About Us
Old Coach Road Honey is a small local family operated apiary. We have been working with bees and producing small amounts of honey for 18 years.
We like to farm our bees as naturally and with as little interference as possible.
We are lucky enough to have our bees permanently sited on our own property, close to natural water sources and pristine native forest, high in the hills above Whitianga on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand. A perfect spot for foraging bees.
Our gentle bees are a mix of Italian honey bees and Carniolan honey bees and we are passionate about our work with them.
We don’t use our bees for orchard pollination nor do we stress and disrupt them by shifting them up and down the country to chase Manuka crops. This means our bees are not exposed to harmful and toxic orchard and farm pesticides and sprays, making life kinder on the bees and making our honey especially pure and natural.
Every year our honey can be different depending on weather and harvest times. We have it tested to determine the honey type and also to ensure there is no tutin toxin present.
It is then extracted at a local RMP registered honey house and packed directly into jars. It is not heated or creamed during this process.
It is raw unpasteurised honey that has retained all of its natural health benefits and properties.
From the flower to the hive then to you to enjoy.
